Eventually, Adobe, in my view, was becoming a monopoly, dictating what it wants, regardless of how its hooked photogs felt (lots of them are unhappy about the cloud-based apps, as you can see in the comments). The trick is that Adobe got photogs hooked on their product, and the price kept going higher and higher, to where I believe it was overpriced. It had a few huge buttons on the left (I think one was for contrast, one for brightness, and I can't remember the other 2 or so). It was targeted at photogs who knew nothing about computers (not many back then knew). Used by 80 to 90 percent of the base, as "some" technology companies do,

Shoving it down the customers throat, like taking away a headphone jack or micro USB and full sized ports and micro SD and full size SD in both phones and laptops adobe could have allowed both models side by side, and simply made one model so much better that thru attrition one simply died a natural death Nothing is more distasteful to me than corporate self absorption, to the point where the desires of their customer and their basic software needs cease to be met. thats fine, but when adobe decided they didn't want to sell a full working program that, in some semblance of ownership, existed independent of a monthly "contribution" to adobes coffers, and lived independently on my SSD i sadly said goodbye. i understand some dont mind.or even may prefer that price model. I refuse to be forced into paying a subscription based service. That's just the way all software is going. Only catch will be that you have to connect to the Web at least once every 30 days. I mean, pretty so Windows will be that way-where you have an annual subscription for $99 per year (or something like that) but you get free upgrades to the latest OS, plus patches.

Disconnecting those PCs from the Internet for the entire subscription period, and then trying to install on another set of computers and telling Adobe that the first two are no longer in service (and if Adobe falls for this, it would work because those first two systems wouldn't have to check in with Adobe for the entire rental period or until the rental expired). I could see someone installing it, activating it twice.
This just keeps it so people can't log in on more than two computers at one time. Theoretically, you could find a way to install it on more than two computers. I think part of the constant checking is because they allow you to install it on two computers.

I'll stay with Lightroom 4 and if I need to correct images with new lenses or machines, I can do it by eye manually, though that free download of DXO Optics Pro 9 will help!! Should I switch? I dont get the connectedness thing, I mean what are they after, all of them, why stick to you at all, why get your machine so thoroughly acessible to them whenever you are online that you must spend ages shutting off all those apps you never use, those location permissions that go with them, and the insane synchronization thingys that mean that an invisible hand moves files and emails and contacts around through THEIR air into machines I only have a licence to use, but which I would myself personally NEVER want synced between each other?Īdobe application manager wants to update? well disable their access to your stuff completely!!! because you cannot waste your life or your time, or your vision pandering to software commands called out to you by Siri or Cortana!!
